More and more companies are investing in art, not only as an asset, but as an element of identity and narrative. However, this is where a misunderstanding arises, as our Elisabetta Berti Arnoaldi Veli explains to Adnkronos. ‘Purchasing a work of art does not mean that you can freely use its image.’
Over the last few years, there have been numerous disputes, ranging from the case about a picture of a Banksy mural being used for commercial purposes, to the improper use of art in sustainability reports, brochures and social media, to controversies about merchandising and advertising campaigns that incorporate unlicensed works. The point is always the same: it should never be overlooked that copyright remains separate from the ownership of the work.
